GCH CH Caper’s Sirius Endeavor

In this age of instant internet gratification, it’s hard to believe that there are still places where information isn’t delivered in nanoseconds.  We routinely miss results from Alaska and Hawaii, admittedly remote areas.  However, there are still places in the lower 48 that have yet to join the 21st  century.  We now have almost complete results from this weekend’s Mid Susquehanna Valley Kennel Club shows held in Middleburg PA.    We did tell you already about the BIS winners.   Now we have the names of all the Group Winners. 

On Saturday BIS winner, the American Foxhound, GCH CH Kiarry’s Walkin On Sunshine was joined by the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, GCH CH Fireside’s Spontaneous Combustion, a Leonberger,from the classes,  Zelda Lion De La Toison D'Or, the Kerry Blue Terrier, GCH CH Bluebeard’s Suddenly Bridey, the Long Coat Chihuahua, CH Saiyai’s Thai Little Florist, the Lhasa Apso, GCH CH, My Thai Ta Sen Halleluiah Chorus, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, CH Happiharbor Saddle Lane TY.    Sunday, BIS winnner, the above named WPG, Buster, was accompanied by the previously named Kerry Blue, Lhasa, & Corgi, the Borzoi, CH Raynbo’s Butterscotch Perfection, the Samoyed, GCH CH Pebbles’ Run Hammy Davis Jr, and the Pug, GCH CH Caper’s Sirius Endeavor.  Congratulations to all the winners.

The Conejo Kennel Club capped the weekend in Santa Barbara CA with Douglas Johnson in the final ring with the Irish Setter, GCH CH Greengate Buzz Lightyear, the Saluki, DC Jamora High Society, the Mastiff, GCH CH Lexington Divine’s put Me In Coach, the Cairn Terrier, GCH Ch Hampton Court’s Ashley, the Brussels Griffon, GCH CH Cashin‘s Walk The Line, the Tibetan Terrier, CH Player’s Just Like Butter, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Segni At Coventry.  It was the Corgi, Molly, picking up her second BIS of the set.

Molly was also half of Sunday’s winning pair at the Second Annual Purina Breeders’ Showcase, a special feature of the Santa Barbara Kennel Club.  The Showcase, which draws entries from all over the US,  consists of two dogs, both of which must share at least one breeder in common. The second half of the winning pair was the 2008 Number One Herding Dog, CH Coventry Vanity Fair.  Congratulations to breeders Bill Shelton, Steve Leyerly, and Beckie Williams DVM.   A special thanks to Abby Shaw and Desi Murphy of the Santa Barbara Kennel Club for championing this terrific concept.

RARE BREEDS RULE IN PA

GCH CH Kiarry’s Walkin On Sunshine

We are still waiting for complete results from this weekend’s Mid Susquehanna Valley Kennel Club shows in Middleburg PA.  However, we want to give you the BIS winners, special not only in the sense of our AKC conformation world, but special also because they are ambassadors for two of our rarer breeds.  Saturday’s BIS winner was the American Foxhound, GCH CH Kiarry’s Walkin On Sunshine.  Three year old Katrina is the first of her breed to win the Grand Champion title.  Our congratulations to breeder/owner/handler Lisa Miller along with our special thanks for her dedication to this iconic American breed.

GCH CH Fireside’s Spontaneous Combustion

Sunday’s BIS winner was the US' the Number Four Sporting Dog, the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, GCH CH Fireside’s Spontaneous Combustion.  Buster and handler Michelle Scott have worked their way into the Top Twenty Dog All Breeds, winning eight BIS this year against some of the country’s toughest competition.

Another dog that rarely travels far from home is the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore.  However, yesterday she and handler Tim Brazier were in Santa Barbara, 1100 miles from their Washington base, picking up the BIS at the day two show of the hometown kennel club.  Joining them in Adriano Bosa’s final were the German Wirehaired Pointer, CH Afterhour’s Reece Have Gun Will Travel, the Whippet, GCH CH Starline’s Chanel, the Boxer, GCH CH Duba Dae’s Who’s your Daddy, the Wire Fox Terrier, CH Gallant Statesman Of Steele, the Toy Poodle, GCH CH Smash Jp Moon Walk, the Standard Poodle, CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore, and the Bouvier des Flandres, CH Mon Amie Dragon Rider.   Tim and Encore now have an even dozen all breed Bests.

SUNDAY IN LAKE ELMO MN

CH Bugaboo’s Georgie Girl

The Old English Sheepdog, CH Bugaboo’s Georgie Girl, is one of the more intriguing dogs being shown this year.  She rarely ventures from her Colorado home, yet she has frequently managed a spot in the Top Ten Dogs All Breeds.  Yesterday she claimed another major BIS, winning the day two offering of the St Croix Valley Kennel Club in Lake Elmo MN.  David Kittredge’s final included the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, CH Littleriver's Brynwood Celtie, the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Field's Bahama Sands, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Cammcastles Friar Tuck, the Welsh Terrier, CH Marydale's Limited Edition , the Pomeranian, CH Char's I Wanta Talk About Me, and the Tibetan Terrier, GCH CH Cedar C Barnstorm L&D Edition.  Yesterday’s win, her 15th this year, will move her into the Number Twelve Dog All Breeds spot.

ELGIN KENNEL CLUB RESULTS

GCH CH Ripsnorter’s Mt View Lookout

The Number Nine Dog All Breeds, the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Ripsnorter’s Mt View Lookout, was in St Charles IL for two days with the Elgin Kennel Club.  On Saturday Roy joined Robert Ennis’ final as did the American Foxhound, GCH CH Kiarry’s Foolish Pride, the Siberian Husky, CH Topaz T.R.O.U.B.L.E., the Kerry Blue Terrier, CH Kerrisel’s here’s Looking At You, the Papillion, the CH Winssong Rock Star, the Dalmatian, CH Royalty’s Taylormade Call Me Sir, and the Briar, CH La Vie Rose Dior August Moon CD RN.  HIS BIS was the GWP, Scout.  That’s 17 BIS for Scout and handler Frank Murphy this year, four in the last two weekends.

Sunday Roy and Frank would be back in Doris Cozart’s final with the Longhaired Dachshund, CH Holmar’s Solo Aviator SL, the Great Dane, GCH Lobato’s Code Red, the Border Terrier, GCH CH Tyrolian Eight Belles At Meadowlake, the Brussels Griffon, CH Knolland Amber Moon, the above named Dalmatian, and the Bouvier des Flandres, CH Frontier’s License to Carry At Margaux.  She would choose the Great Dane, Cody.  It’s the only the second BIS by a Great Dane this year.  Congratulations to breeders Joy Lobato & Erin Brandon and owners Joy Lobato, Angela Stillwell, K Lyons & Traci Miller.

As we enter the fall show season our rankings race remains very close.  Yesterday in West Springfield MA the nation’s Number Ten Dog All Breeds, the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Tolkien Raintree Mister Baggins, added another BIS to his resume winning the top prize at the Great Barrington Kennel Club show.  Alberto Barrios also considered the Golden Retriever, CH Goldenway's Caramel Chew-Chew, the Basenji, GCH CH Wakill Signet Dooney, the Boxer, CH Jacquet’s Laredo El Canto, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH Castle Rock's SBigStaff Mad About You, the Affenpinscher, CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari, and the Bulldog, GCH CH Kepley’s Showbiz Razzle Dazzle.  Roy now has 39 career BIS, including 24 this year.

FIRST TIMER IN WASHINGTON

Today's Sammamish Kennel Club all breed show in Redmond WA built on several specialty and limited breed warm ups and fielded over 1700 dogs today.  The seven who made it to  Peggy Beisel-McIlwaine’s final were the CH Stanegate Supertramp    Irish Water Spaniel, the Afghan Hound, CH Stormhill's Sweet Dreams of Rafica, the Siberian Husky, CH Karnovanda's Tenzing, the American Staffordshire Terrier, CH Alpine's Highwayman, the Toy Fox Terrier, Valcopy C-Lyn Dracula, the Bulldog, CH Stellar's Usual Suspect, and the Puli, CH Lajosmegyi Singin' In The Rain.  BIS went to the Afghan Hound, Ella.  We believe this is Ella’s first all breed BIS.  Congratulations to breeders Mary Offerman, Terri Vanderzee, & Stormhill Kennels and owners Garret & Sue Games, Sandra Frei, & Terri Vanderzee.

TWO IN A ROW IN SANTA ROSA

We have another repeat winner to tell you about.  The Norwegian Elkhound, GCH CH Vin-Melca’s Voyager made it two in a row in Santa Rosa CA, winning BIS at today’s Mensona Kennel Club show.  Also on hand in James Frederiksen’s final were the Sussex Spaniel, CH Seamist On A Windward Tack RN, the Boxer, CH R And G’s Mystical Dancer, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Slyfox Sneaks A Peek, the Pekingese, CH Pequest One Moment In Time, the Bulldog, CH Globe And Anchor Sgt Iron Mike, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Avalon Frontier Sleepnlady Webber.   Skippy now has five career BIS, three this year, in very limited showing.

There were almost 2200 dogs entered in today’s Conyers Kennel Club Of Georgia show and at least three of our Top Ten Dogs All Breeds were there.  Only one of those three would make it to Anne Savory Bolus’ final, yesterday’s BIS winner, the Pekingese, GCH CH PalaceGarden Malachy.    Rounding out the final were the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Star K’s Mile Hi Valentine, the Saluki, CH Excelsior Yosef Areli, the Siberian Husky, CH Indigo's Hilltop State, the Standard Manchester Terrier, CH Saint Lazar's Rings Of Fire , the Dalmatiann, GCH CH Bret D Gabriel's Lost Art, and the Shetland Sheepdog, CH Leeason Rock My Soul.  Closing out the huge weekend in Atlanta was the Manchester, Cash, with his third BIS.  Congratulations to breeders Wanda Walker & Charles Walker, owners Dr Roger P Travis & Wanda Walker, and handler Marcelo Chagas.

The Western Reserve Kennel Club was the closing act in Chagrin Falls OH today.  William Cunnigham’s final finalists were yesterday’s BIS, the Vizsla, GCH CH Artisan Grouse Point Pink Panther JH, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Majic Whatever I Want, the Doberman Pinscher, CH D’Amonde‘s Sand & Dunes Of Sahara, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH J’Cobe Kemosabe Vigilante Justice, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Austin Powers, Standard Poodle, CH Hillwood Ale Kai Walking On Air, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Shoal Creek’s Sangria V Barick.   Today’s BIS went to the GSD, Rhea.  Rhea’s fifth BIS this year ties her for most BIS by a GSD in 2010.

TWOFER IN TOPEKA

Jane Forsyth made it back2back BIS for the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Skyscot's Poker Chip, making him her Best In Show at today’s Topeka Kennel Club show.  Also among her finalists were the Golden Retriever, CH Dalane Doizaki Buckingham's Pride, the Kuvazs, CH Szumeria's Wildwood Silver Six Pence, the Yorkshire Terrier, GCH CH Stringer's Something’s Gotta Give, the French Bulldog, CH Lionhearts Thumbs Up!, and the Rough Collie, GCH CH Gentry‘s Braveheart.  BIS nine & ten should move Pokey up a few spots in the all breed rankings.

BIG NUMBERS IN ATLANTA

The big numbers this weekend are in Atlanta GA where three days of all breed shows offers up more than 6000 points for the winners.   On Friday Mildred Bryant kicked it off for the Sawnee Mountain Kennel Club.  Her lucky seven were the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Casablanca’s Thrilling Seduction, the Saluki, CH Excelsior Yosef Areli, the Doberman Pinscher, CH Mi-Tis Three Cheers, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Buddy Goodman, the Pekingese, GCH CH PalaceGarden Malachy, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin Spitfire, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Mysharas Dream Girl.  BIS went to the Number Three Terrier, the Skye, Buddy.  Buddy and handler Larry Cornelius have now won 15 BIS this year, including some of the biggest this year.   This win will make Buddy the Number 22 Dog All Breeds.

GCH CH PalaceGarden Malachy

Saturday the Lawrenceville Kennel Club and Houston Clark took over.  He saw the same Cocker, Skye, Peke, & Poodle, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, CH Symetrivikela Mischief Managed, the Black Russian Terrier, CH Kamila At Aristes S Nadezhdonoi Poliany, and the Shetland Sheepdog, CH Leeason Rock My Soul.  His BIS was the Peke, Malachy.  Malachy and owner/handler David Fitzpatrick continue their onslaught, collecting their 35th top prize of the year.  This one will put them back into the Number Two All Breed spot.

LAKE ELMO MN RESULTS

Dog fanciers are enjoying the waning days of summer gathering in Lake Elmo MN for two days with the St Croix Valley Kennel Club.  Yesterday’s day one show featured over 1800 entries and Joan E Luna with the English Cocker Spaniel, CH Nonnies Déjà Vu, the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Field's Bahama Sands, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Cammcastles Friar Tuck, the Airedale Terrier, CH Victorianne Crimson Sentry, the Smooth Chihuahua, GCH CH Ayrwen Star Kissed Delight, the Tibetan Terrier, GCH CH Cedar C Barnstorm L&D Edition, and the Belgian Sheepdog, GCH CH Chargany's Voyageur.   She chose the nation’s Number Four Working Dog, the Rottie, Tux.  2010 BIS number eight will move Tux into the Top Twenty Dogs All Breeds.

Kent Delaney was in Topeka KS yesterday to call the BIS for the day two show of the Manhattan Kennel Club.  His super seven were the Golden Retriever, CH Dalane Doizaki Buckingham's Pride, the Pharaoh Hound, CH Northgate’s as You Like It, the Boxer, GCH CH Winfall I Dream Of Style, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Skyscot's Poker Chip,   the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, GCH CH Orchard Hill Shirmont Backtalk, the French Bulldog CH Lionhearts Thumbs Up, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, CH Kingsbury  Dark Magic.   His Best was the Norwich, Pokey.  Pokey is the Number One Norwich Terrier and the Number Four Terrier.  Pokey and handler Brenda Combs now have nine all breed BIS this year.

Day two in Santa Barbara CA was day one for the hometown Santa Barbara Kennel Club.  Lynette Saltzman gathered the Flat Coated Retriever, CH Feathurquest Paradise Kiss, the Whippet, GCH CH Starline's Chanel, the Akita, CH Dream Hi's I Got My Game On, the Wire Fox Terrier, CH Gallant Statesman Of Steele, the Toy Poodle, GCH CH Smash Jp Moon Walk, the Standard Poodle, CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, CH Segni At Coventry.  She chose the Toy Poodle, Walker, as her Best In Show.  DOG2WATCH Walker, the Number Three Toy Dog in AKC, now has 13 BIS this year.

ELKHOUND OPENS SANTA ROSA

Terry Stacy opened the weekend in Santa Rosa CA with the Mensona Kennel Club.  Heis seven survivors were the English Cocker Spaniel, CH Indigo N Jolyn’s Encore Edition, the Norwegian Elkhound, GCH CH Vin-Melca’s Voyager, the Boxer, CH R And G’s Mystical Dancer, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Slyfox Sneaks A Peek, the Pomeranian, CH CR’s Simply Irrestible, the Bulldog, CH Globe And Anchor Sgt Iron Mike, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Avalon Frontier Sleepnlady Webber.   His BIS was the Elkhound, Skippy.  It’s the second BIS this year for Skippy and legendary breeder/owner/handler Pat Trotter. 

TODAY IN MASSACHUSETTS

Neither of the BIS winners from days one & two were in the day three final of today’s Newton Kennel Club show in West Springfield MA.   One had moved onto another venue and the second didn’t make it out of the Group today.  Nonetheless, Cathy H Daugherty had a splendid seven, the Flat Coated Retriever, CH Quillquest Etched In Stone OA AXJ RN JH, the Borzoi, CH Greyhaven Wizard’s Crystal, the Siberian Husky, CH Myla’s Point Of Reference, the Irish Terrier, CH Fleet St Fenway Fan, the Affenpinscher, CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari, the Bulldog, CH Kepley’s Showbiz Razzle Dazzle, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Tolkien Raintree Mister Baggins.  Her BIS was the Affenpinscher, Joe.  Handler Ernesto Lara has piloted the multi-titled Dutch import to five AKC BIS this year.  Today’s win makes him the top winning Affenpinscher in the US, all systems.

With Saturday comes more options to exhibitors and we saw some of the dogs changing venues.  The country’s Number One Dog All Breeds, the Smooth Fox terrier, GCH CH J’Cobe Kemosabe Vigilante Justice, left New England for the Great Lakes competing at today’s Sugarbush Kennel Club show in Chagrin Falls OH.  Dodger was one of  Patti Widick Neale’s final seven.  The other six were the Vizsla, GCH CH Artisan Grouse Point Pink Panther JH, the Irish Wolfhound, CH Ansa Mo Merlin D’Eirinn, the Siberian Husky, CH Kontoki’s A Bend In The Road, yesterday’s BIS, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Austin Powers, the Dalmatian, CH Troika’s Adagio, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Shoal Creek’s Sangria V Barick.  Her BIS was the Vizsla, Kato.  It’s the second this year for Kato.  Congratulations to breeders Mark Toepke & Joan Toepke and owners Corinne Miklos, Sue Lonabaugh, R Bernstein & Joan Toepke.

Day two in Topeka KS saw Murrel Purkhiser in the final ring for the Topeka Kennel Club with the Golden Retriever, CH Dalane Doizaki Buckingham's Pride, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, CH Dehra Amazona Bvlgari, the Doberman Pinscher, CH Mistel's Anything You Can Do, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Skyscot's Poker Chip, the Papillion, GCH CH Wildfire On The Rocks, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Sak's Hamelot Little Drummer Boy, GCH CH Clemwood's Nobel Laureate.  Her BIS was the Papillion, Rita.   it’s the second all breed Best for Rita and handler Brian Livingston.  Congratulations to Brian, breeder Angela Pickett, and owners Madeline Mosing & Cheslie Pickett.

The Sugarbush Kennel Club got the weekend started in Chagrin Falls OH with Christopher Tilghman Neale in the final ring.  His seven were the German Shorthaired Pointer, CH Dogwoodcreek’s Hot Money, the Plott, GCH CH Alexander's Mob Boss Capone, the Great Dane, GCH CH Rainmaster’s She’s A Show Girl, the Norfolk Terrier, CH Starmtn EZ Link To Domby, the Shih Tzu, GCH Ch Hallmark Jolei Austin Powers, the Standard Poodle, CH Hillwood Ale Kai Walking On Air, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH XTC‘s What Can Brown Do For You?.  Best was the country’s Number two Toy Dog, the Shih Tzu, Austin.   Austin been sitting in the eleventh all breed spot for a few weeks now.  This win, his 14th BIS this year,  will help him get a little close to the Top Ten.

NUMBER ONE & TWO FACE OFF

It was the Elm City Kennel Club‘s turn to host in West Springfield MA and they asked Lee Brown to choose a Best In Show from a final seven that included the nation‘s top two dogs. His options were the Irish Setter, GCH CH Shadagee Caught Red Handed, the Afghan Hound, CH Xenos Jimlet, the Boxer, CH Jacquet’s Laredo El Encanto, yesterday’s BIS winner, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH J’Cobe Kemosabe Vigilante Justice, the Affenpinscher, CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari, the Bulldog, CH Kepley’s Showbiz Razzle Dazzle, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Tolkien Raintree Mister Baggins. Today’s BIS went to the country’s Number One Sporting Dog, the Irish Setter, Emily. Emily’s 28th BIS this year keeps the front runner in sight and opens a little distance between her and Number Three.

Our second Thursday report is from Topeka KS where the Manhattan Kansas Kennel Club opened the four day stay with Col Joe Purkhiser calling the BIS.  He had his pick of the Golden Retriever, CH Dalane Doizaki Buckingham's Pride, the Pharaoh Hound, CH Northgate’s as You Like It, the Neapolitan Mastiff, CH Bruno Della Vecchia Roma, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Skyscot's Poker Chip, the Yorkshire Terrier, GCH CH Stringer's Something’s Gotta Give, the Chinese Shar-Pei, GCH CH Chaoyang Chick Magnet At Asia, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Paradigm's  Baylandon Broadway.  Best went to the sleek Pharaoh Hound, Qing.  Qing has been burning it up this summer collecting five BIS in the last two months for a total of seven this year.  Here’s video of Qing winning the Hound Group at this year’s Crufts.

Our week’s first report is in from West Springfield MA where some of the nation’s best dogs gathered for the first of four shows, the Northwestern Connecticut Dog Club show.  Lowell K Davis considered the Field Spaniel, CH Tamarack’s Race You To Calico, the Borzoi, CH Greyhaven Wizard's Crystal, the St Bernard, CH Opdyke's Drives Me To Drink , the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH J’Cobe Kemosabe Vigilante Justice, the Affenpinscher, CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari, the Bulldog, CH Kepley’s Showbiz Razzle Dazzle, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Tolkien Raintree Mister Baggins.   Continuing his remarkable Summer Surge was the country’s Number One Dog All Breeds, the Smooth Fox, Dodger, taking home career BIS 77.  That’s gotta be a lucky number.

Our dog show week will consist of 26 all breed shows in ten locations in three time zones.  The week will start Thursday in New England with a quartet of shows in West Springfield MA hosted by the Northwestern Connecticut Dog Club, Elm City Kennel Club, Newtown Kennel Club, & Great Barrington Kennel Club.  Also beginning Thursday is the four day stop in Topeka KS courtesy of the Manhattan Kansas Kennel Club  & Topeka Kennel Club.

Friday will see three more sites with shows.  The Sugarbush Kennel Club & Western Reserve Kennel Club will set up shop in Chagrin Falls OH.  The big numbers will be in Atlanta GA where the Sawnee Mountain Kennel Club Of Georgia, Lawrenceville Kennel Club, & Conyers Kennel Club Of Georgia will likely see some of the big names.  Beautiful Santa Barbara CA will be the site of the Simi Valley, Santa Barbara, & Conejo Kennel Clubs’ four shows.

Traditional two day offerings can be had in Middleburg Pa from the Mid Susquehanna Valley Kennel Club, in St Charles IL from the Elgin Kennel Club, in Lake Elmo MN from the St Croix Valley Kennel Club, and in Santa Rosa CA from the Mensona Kennel Club.  Finally, the one day show of the Sammamish Kennel Club Sunday In Redmond WA will follow two days of specialties and limited breed shows.   We only have a couple more weeks of summer left.  What better way to spend them than at an AKC dog show?

CH Slievecroob Mic'Olene

We close our weekend reports with another trip to paradise…with the same results.  The Scottish Terrier, CH Slievecroob Mic'Olene, repeated his Saturday BIS win on Sunday at the day two show of the West Oahu Kennel Club in Ewa (Honolulu) HI.   Rounding out Shirley Limoges’ final were the Viszla, CH Relwood MGM Grand, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, GCCH CH Pupukearidge Ikaika O Sprngvly, the Doberman Pinscher, CH Fantasy Island's Inspiration, the Shih Tzu, CH Xerlane Eye Of The storm, the Bulldog, CH Trent‘s Adoreabull Last Word, and the Shetland Sheepdog, CH Lynroc Paint The Sky Airene.  That’s four for the Irish import.  Maybe we can convince the wife to go to Hawaii for a dog show?

GCH CH Mariel’s Harvest Moon

Our remaining reports come from the west.  At the Reno (NV) Kennel Club’s Sunday show,  Steven Gladstone chose the  Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Mariel’s Harvest Moon, Best In Show.  His remaining six finalists were the German Shorthaired Pointer, CH Robin Crest Great Expectations, the Saluki, GCH CH 7seas Int’l Safari At Sayad, the Akita, GCH CH Dream Hi’s I got My Game On, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, GCH CH Angranian Derry Mucker, the Pug, CH Curtique Riversong’s Nathan Detroit, and the Bichon Frise, GCH CH PaRay Rime Time.    It’s Harvey’s first BIS this year.  The three year old was bred by Marian R Mizelle & Helen B Jones, is owned by Marian R Mizelle & Robert R Caldwell, and handled by Kelly Shane.   Congratulations to them all.

Here in Memphis the temperatures were hovering around 100 degrees Fahrenheit and the competition was just as hot.  The Memphis Kennel Club’s two weekend shows were preceded by the Memphis Toy Dog Club’s two limited breed shows, drawing some of the top Toy Dogs in the country.  Sharon Newcomb’s BIS was AKC’s Number Three Toy Dog, the Pekingese, GCH CH Franshaw Hear Me Roar.  Joining the Peke, Noel, in the final were the English Cocker Spaniel, CH Especially Magic Happens, the Afghan Hound, CH  Wynsyr China Doll, the Bullmastiff, GCH CH Sumertym Southwind Magic Carpet Ride, the Fox Smooth Terrier, GCH CH Frenchpark Moon Of Wintertime, the Lhasa Apso, CH Tara Huff Edrey Starbuck, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, CH Crinoline Drumroll Please.   We have that as 18 BIS this year for Noel & handler Hiram Stewart.

The only Saturday finalists to make it to Dr John Shelton’s final on Sunday were the Smooth Fox & Lhasa.  Making their first final of the weekend were the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH Ehrenvogel It Amazes Me, the Saluki, DC Shantani Ivory Moon, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Horizons Upper Echelon, the nation’s Number Two Toy Dog, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Austin Powers, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Leeason Rock My Soul.  HIS BIS was the Lhasa, Starbuck.  It’s the first BIS this year for six year old.  Congratulations to breeders/owners Peggy W Huffman & Edwin Valle.

We were lucky this weekend to bring you most of the shows results within a few hours of their completion.  However, we still have more.  Stephanie Seabrook Hedgepath did the Best In Show on day four in Muncie IN for the Anderson Kennel Club.  Her seven were the winner of the three previous days, the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Ripsnorter’s Mt View Lookout, the Whippet, GCH CH Karsar's Par Excellence, the Great Dane, GCH CH Lobato's Code Red, the Border Terrier, GCH CH Tyrolian Eight Belles At Meadowlake, the Pug, GCH CH Kenshei And Thats The Way It Is, the Bichon Frise, Belle Creek's No Doubt About It, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Lambluv Gambolon Blue Thunder.  The OES, Elvis, would prevent the GWP sweep, taking the BIS.    We have that as eight BIS this year for Elvis and breeder/owner/handler Jere Marder.

Mrs Houston (Toddie) Clark had the big job today of choosing which of the 2500 entries would be the Olympic Kennel Club’s BIS.  Her options were the Irish Water Spaniel, CH Poole's Ide Got Water RN, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, GCH CH Soletrader’s the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Aviators Luck Be A Lady, Saturday’s BIS winner, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Slyfox Sneaks A Peek, the Papillion, CH Arsuma's Brilliant Diamond, the Standard Poodle, CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore, and the Border Collie, CH Borderfame Signature.  She chose the Smooth Fox, Adam, as her Best In Show.  Adam and handler Eddie Boyes have collected over 4000 points this weekend.
